Coronavirus (Covid-19) Update
25 March 2020 Update
National Cabinet has agreed to a range of new measures to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 and keep Australians safe.
The enhanced measures include the closure of: auctions, open houses, beauty salons, tattoo parlours, massage parlours, museums, libraries, galleries, amusement parks, play centres, food courts (shopping centres can remain open) and swimming pools.
These restrictions will take effect from midnight tonight.️
Schools, supermarkets, pharmacies and shopping centres will remain open. There is now a ban on Australians travelling overseas and residents should not hold barbecues, house parties or large family gatherings. Weddings can only continue when it is just the couple, celebrant and witnesses present. No more than 10 people can attend a funeral.
I know these measures dramatically change the way we live, but we must do all we can to slow the spread of the coronavirus and save lives. Practice good hygiene, keep 1.5 metres between yourself and others and visit Australia.gov.au for more information.
5 March 2020 Update
The Australian Government has implemented the Coronavirus Emergency Response Plan, focusing on keeping Australians as safe as possible from the spread of this virus.
For information specific to NSW, go to www.health.nsw.gov.au. Or, if you require further information, you can also call the National Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080.
The Coronovirus is most likely spread from person-to-person through direct close contact with a person while they are infectious, close contact with a person with a confirmed infection who coughs or sneezes, or touching objects or surfaces contaminated from a cough or sneeze from a person with a confirmed infection and then touching your mouth or face. Most infections are only transmitted by people when they have symptoms.
I would encourage everyone to read the information provided by NSW Health, as well as the Australian Government’s Department of Health advice information here – Coronavirus-(Covid-19)-Information.
