The National Party’s driving purpose is to represent the needs and views of all Regional Australians to the best of our collective ability.
To do that most effectively, we need to hold strong to our guiding principles and drive positive change as a unified team.
That is not to say that we as individuals are not entitled to disagree with directions posed by the leadership team and National Party Room.
We are. And that is an important part of our DNA as a Party.
The right to disagree, the right to debate and pressure test decisions and the right to challenge the Leadership. And that is the process that has occurred today, instigated by the Member for Flynn.
The result from today’s challenge is that David Littleproud will remain as the Leader of the National Party with the support of the Party Room. We as a Party are proud of our stance against Labor’s Hate Speech Bill and its dangerous implications, and proud of our solidarity as a Party after the dismissal of our exemplary Senators from their Shadow Ministerial roles.
I have made no secret of my support for David Littleproud since he took the party reins in 2022. David has represented our Party and our Constituents honourably, with the strength and dedication they deserve.
I look forward to seeing The National Party continue to act on behalf of all Regional Australians under his leadership. It is now time to stop the distractions and get back to doing what we were elected to do as a unified team; Fighting for a fair-go for everyday Australians.
Our priority as a Party will continue to be holding the Labor Government to account for their rampant policy failures across cost of living, government induced inflation, our nation’s energy mix, housing shortages and irresponsible mass migration.
