Background of the Oxley Highway at Wrights Road and Lake Road Project
The Oxley Highway at Wrights Road and Lake Road Project has been a critical infrastructure initiative designed to address significant traffic congestion, improve road safety, and support the growing transportation demands in Port Macquarie and surrounding areas. The project aims to enhance the connectivity between key intersections, reduce travel time, and provide safer access for both motorists and pedestrians.
Originally, this vital project received funding under the Coalition Government’s Infrastructure Investment Program, which recognized the urgent need for road safety improvements and congestion management in our region. The funding was secured after thorough planning, community consultations, and strategic assessments that highlighted the project’s potential to transform local transportation.
Funding Rescinded: A Setback for Our Community
Unfortunately, following the change in government, the Labor administration rescinded the previously allocated funding for the Oxley Highway at Wrights Road and Lake Road Project. This decision has left a significant gap in the infrastructure plans, putting the safety of our community at risk and stalling progress on much-needed road improvements. The withdrawal of funds has not only delayed the project but has also heightened concerns about increasing traffic congestion, accident risks, and limited accessibility for emergency services.
Community-Driven Effort to Secure Funding Again
In response to this setback, I am spearheading a community-driven initiative to advocate for the reinstatement of funding for the Oxley Highway at Wrights Road and Lake Road Project. Our goal is to demonstrate to the current Labor government the overwhelming public support for this project and the critical need for its completion.
One of the most effective ways to achieve this is through active participation in the Black Spot Program – Nomination Form. This program focuses on identifying and addressing dangerous road locations with a history of accidents.
Together, we can make a difference. Let’s stand united in our efforts to improve road safety, reduce congestion, and ensure the Oxley Highway at Wrights Road and Lake Road Project receives the attention and funding it rightfully deserves.
