Regional Tech Hub to help resolve mobile and internet issues

Cowper residents will now have access to practical advice on helping resolve problems they experience with their mobile phone and internet connections.

The Regional Tech Hub was launched on Tuesday 8 December 2020.

The Hub includes an enquiry hotline staffed by tech support experts located in regional Australia and an easy to use portal. The hotline operates Monday and Tuesday from 2pm until 7pm and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 7.30am until 12.30pm.

Federal Member for Cowper, Pat Conaghan, says the Regional Tech Hub delivers on the Morrison-McCormack Government’s commitment to help improve the digital literacy of Australians in regional, rural and remote areas.

“Thanks to the Regional Tech Hub, residents across Cowper now have access to independent, practical advice and assistance on telecommunications issues,” Mr Conaghan said.

“The Hub provides a one-stop source of information that will help regional Australians to, understand the telecommunications options available to them; decide which option best suits their needs, and, resolve problems they experience with their mobile phone and internet connections.

“Information provided via the Regional Tech Hub covers all telco providers.”

Mr Conaghan said the Hub includes an easy-to-use online portal, a dedicated social media presence including on Facebook and Twitter along with an enquiry hotline staffed by tech support experts from regional Australia.

Regional Communications Minister, Mark Coulton, said the Hub will help Cowper residents understand the telecommunications options available to them, decide which option best suits their needs, and resolve problems they experience with their phone and internet connections.

“The Federal Coalition is committed to improving digital connectivity and access to the internet for all Australians, and the Regional Tech Hub is an important part of our approach to ensuring people understand all the options available to them, from mobile networks to the NBN Sky Muster Plus,” he said.

The National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) was selected to develop and run the Hub following a tender process earlier this year. The NFF is working closely with the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN) to ensure the information provided through the Hub is practical, relevant and easily accessible.

The Regional Tech Hub has been funded as part of the Government’s $220 million Stronger Regional Digital Connectivity Program, which was announced in March 2019 in response to the recommendations of the 2018 Regional Telecommunications Review.

The NFF has been contracted to deliver the Tech Hub for an initial 12 months with an option for a further two-year extension.

To access the Regional Tech Hub go to the website or contact the Hub’s hotline on 1300 081 029.
