I welcome the decision to re-form the Coalition between the Liberal Party and The Nationals.
I am personally relieved that this issue has now been put to bed and that all members of the Coalition are able to focus entirely on the task at hand; working in the best interests of the Australian people.
Out of respect to the millions of Coalition supporters across Australia, we took the time to get the settings right as part of the negotiations with the Liberal Party.
We acknowledge that both the Liberal and National Parties are stronger together and that Australians deserve a united Opposition to get things done.
The National Party remains a united force and the Party Room was unanimous in its decision to accept Sunday’s finalised terms as agreed between leaders Sussan Ley and David Littleproud.
As a Coalition, we are determined to represent every Australian, no matter where they live. As the National Party, we will ensure that regional people are kept in focus through every policy that is put forward.
With the reunification of the Coalition, I will be returning to my roles as the Shadow Assistant Treasurer and Shadow Minister for Financial Services at the next parliamentary sitting. I look forward to continuing to hold the Government to account as part of the Shadow Ministry.
I respectfully ask that the media now set to focussing on what really matters, not internal political party machinations.
The key issues for all Australians remain unchanged; cost of living, low productivity, rampant inflation, housing accessibility, responsible immigration, telecommunications, infrastructure and access to government services such as aged care, child-care and the NDIS should return to the ‘headline news’.
These are the big issues to be resolved by the Federal Government and I look forward to working as a united Coalition team to develop the sensible policies that deliver a safer, stronger, fairer Australia.
