Are you a volunteer group in need of up to $5,000 in funding?
Expressions of Interest are now being sought through my office for the latest round of Volunteer Grants. Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to eligible not-for-profit community organisations for things like the purchase of small equipment items, volunteer travel and transport expenses, background screening costs and volunteer training. Expressions of Interest (EOIs) close at midnight on Friday 24 January 2025.

The 2024–25 Volunteer Grants program aims to assist not-for-profit community organizations in supporting and increasing volunteer participation. Here’s how the grant can support volunteer organizations across the our area:
- Funding Scope:
- Grants range between $1,000 and $5,000 (GST exclusive) per organization.
- Available funding can be used for items and activities that directly benefit volunteers or enhance children’s wellbeing through volunteering.
- Eligible Uses:
- Category 1: Communication and insurance items for volunteer support, including:
- Mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and relevant software for communication.
- Internet services, audio-visual equipment, and insurance premiums.
- Category 2: Support for activities or items enhancing children’s development and wellbeing:
- Educational tools, training, background screening, first aid, sport and recreation equipment, and event costs promoting volunteering.
- Office equipment, accessibility tools, and travel expenses for volunteer activities.
- Community Impact:
- Encourages increased participation in volunteering.
- Addresses local needs for resources and activities within communities.
- Process:
- Federal MPs gather Expressions of Interest (EOI) and consult local committees to nominate organizations.
- Only nominated organizations can apply, ensuring localized and targeted funding allocation.
- Expected Outcomes:
- Strengthened community functioning through volunteer support.
- Enhanced resources for volunteers and community services.
